East Coast Railway men and Bhubaneswar women emerged champions in
the Inter-District Senior Volleyball Championship, which concluded at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack tonight. In the finals, East Coast Railway defeated Orissa Police 25-23, 25-12, 25-17, while Bhubaneswar beat Sundargarh 25-14, 25-14, 25-10.
Balasore men and Kendrapara women occupied the third positions, getting better of Cuttack 26-24, 25-15 and Jagatsinghpur 25-9, 25-16 respectively. Cuttack Collector Kishore Kumar Mohanty gave away the trophies at the closing ceremony.
Meanwhile, Orissa Volleyball Association named 16 men and as many women as probables for the Senior National Championship to be held at Chennai from December 12 to 19. According to OVA secretary Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, a coaching camp for the probables will be conducted at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack from November 30 to December 8 and the final teams will be announced on December 5.
